"Consumer is the King of the market" - Nothing but a mockery

Since childhood from school social science books to the marketing thesis we have been told that Consumer is always the king of the market. The market is working only because of consumers. Is it really true for today? Think of it for a while and reply to your own selves.

The world has become digital and so people. The money has gone virtual and so the people. We are too much running after the virtual pleasures of purchasing that off late we have become oblivious of the hardships which one can face amidst this.

I do not wish to go too far and would like to quote my own example here. Online shopping is really simple and convenient and I am a part of this ecommerce game since long. Recently I had purchase a mobile phone worth 15,900/- from snapdeal after getting to offer of an instant 10% over my axis debit card. When my payment was complete I came to know I was cheated and I did not get any discount. I though well this is not the end of the world and cancelled the payment which should reflect in my account within 4-7 business days. When I did not receive the money I contacted Snapdeal and they provided me some ARN number and told that the money has been refunded from their end and I should raise a dispute with my bank.

I contacted my bank immediately and thought my bank is consumer friendly one and they should respond immediately. Which was not the case. Firstly they refused to reply to my call. I kept calling them again and again. Launched a formal complaint, Sent emails, but never received any satisfactory reply. Today after contacting them for so long they told me that the grievance has reached some fraud department and they will take 120 days to reverse the payment to my account.

After hearing this I said "WHAT?"...When we pay it does not take even a second to get the money debited from our account and now when I want my hard earned money back, they easily said "Madam aapko wait to karna padega". BLOODY CHEATS!!!

Please tell me in the above case do you feel consumer is the king. The people who boast themselves caring for their customers are treating customers like mosquitoes in reality. This is the way how they treat and loot innocent consumer in the market. This forgery will get aggravated with the pace of digital transactions.

Now what else can I do except penning down my thoughts so that it gets a few reads on the web and waiting for my money to come back. Nobody is providing any guarantee that it will come. For me more than the money it is the question on the loyalty that is shared among a seller and a customer. This way the loyalty is lost at least from my end. Whether my money comes back or no I shall not trust them again in my life.
